Are You Really That Cheap?

Are You Really That Cheap?

I am amazed, perhaps stunned would be an even better word, at the number of people who never give their network marketing business a chance, because they are cheap.   Now I know some of you are reading this and saying to yourself: “You got that right!”, but others of you are already taking a defensive posture and thinking:  “Yeah, but he doesn’t know how tough things are for me right now!”   I hope that I am bringing out those types of reactions in you, because this is one of the major contributing factors to the failure of many home businesses and if you are not careful your could be next.

Cheap Is Often A Poverty Mindset In Disguise

I pride myself on being a fairly frugal person.  I don’t spend lavishly and I’ve never been one to pursue the latest trends.  I look for the best deal on just about any purchase I make whether it is a clothing or business tools.  Being frugal with your business is not a bad thing, but there is a great difference in being frugal and just being cheap.  In reality people who are cheap with their business are often people plagued by a poverty mindset.  This means that they allow their present circumstance to dictate their views and decisions in all aspects of their life.

Here is where things get interesting.  Many people start a , because things have fallen apart all around them and they desperately need to see their circumstances change.   They enter into the world of network , because the buy in is relatively inexpensive and the potential is practically limitless.   This brings about a very intense inner struggle.  The need to see circumstances change has driven the individual to their business; however, they come into the business breathing a sigh of relief that they have paid their start up expense, but they have no intention of investing in their business beyond that.

Let me give you a couple of examples that I see much too often:

  • Distributor joins the company, but never even purchases product – how can they convince someone else to use the product if they are unwilling to themselves
  • Distributor joins the company and won’t even invest in materials – when a distributor won’t even spend $10 at Vista Print for business cards, they have set themselves up for failure.
  • Distributor signs in for MLM training that teaches them how to build their business, but doesn’t even watch the training – I am amazed at the number of people who sign up for the Facebook and Twitter marketing training that I offer on this website, that never watch the training.  Makes you wonder why they signed up for it to begin with.

Circumstance Is No Excuse For Being Cheap

I want to briefly share a snapshot of my own story with you.  In the fall of 2008 the church I worked for laid off the entire staff due to financial hardship.  Unfortunately ministers are considered self-employed and therefore unable to even collect unemployment benefits.   I was still carrying the mortgage on a home that had never sold in my previous community and quickly burned through my life savings over the next several months trying to get my new ministry up and running.  During that time, I decided to make network marketing my business model of choice to support both myself and my ministry.   By the end of 2009, my savings were gone my previous home was racing towards foreclosure and I could no longer afford my rental home.  My network marketing businesses were going nowhere and I was looking for answers.

It was about that time I came across MyLeadSystemPro.   The cost was $50/month, but they offered to teach me how to build a online.   I had a choice to make, was I going invest in my business or allow my circumstances to dictate my future.   That was a defining moment for me.  If I was unwilling to make the sacrifices to put $50/month into growing my business, then there was no sense even trying to build a business.   An interesting thing happened when I made that decision…the poverty mindset no longer had a foothold in my life.  This was truly a defining moment!

Since then I have taken the training I receive every month from MLSP and built multiple online businesses.  I use the system to generate leads each and every day.  I get multiple checks every month, because I refused to be cheap.  This month I am conducting a seminar teaching the very things I’ve learned through MLSP and those attending are paying $1,000 per person to receive that information.   The risk of the investment is the very thing that has helped me rebuild the very life that had been crumbling all around me.

So why am I telling you all of this.  It is pretty simple really.   Too many of you are allowing a “cheap” mindset to rob you of your future.  You are not giving your business a chance to ever make a difference in your life or the life of anyone else for that matter, because you are unwilling to make even the smallest investment to make it work.

In closing let me leave you with this thought:

If you are unwilling to invest in your network marketing business, you are a fool to think that anyone else would invest in it either!  Your poverty mindset has set the tone for your business.
