MLM Prospecting That Works With Any Company
MLM prospecting is a necessary skill that must be learned by anyone that is hoping to build an MLM business. Unfortunately, this is also the skill that most network marketers struggle with the most. When you examine why some people make incredible incomes and why others never make a dime, the real difference typically comes down to one factor…effective MLM prospecting. Once an individual masters the art of prospecting, the limitations are quickly removed from their business. Although the techniques used in offline and online prospecting are different, the underlying principles are fundamentally the same.
The MLM Prospecting Mistake That Most People Make
Perhaps this scenario will sound familiar and so it should, since it is the advice given most frequently to a new network marketer. A new person joins a network marketing company and they are welcomed with the instruction to make a list of 100 people they know and then to call each of those individuals to present their new business opportunity. Once they have exhausted their list, most simply give up; however, a few go-getters go a step further and begin approaching strangers door to door or in public places like shopping malls. The problem with this type of mlm prospecting is that it focuses on the product or business opportunity instead of focusing on the individual.
What most people forget is that people prefer to buy from people they know and trust. This thought process works well with the initial list of individuals, but it unfortunately is a limited list. It is preferable to become the authority in the niche of your company and the products and services they are offering. By positioning yourself in this manner, you are moving from the role of sales person to the role of consultant. By adopting the consultative stance, your MLM prospecting becomes much more natural and free flowing.
The Basics Of Effective MLM Prospecting
MLM prospecting is most effective when it allows you to develop an ongoing relationship with prospects in a way that allows you to present your company opportunity and products in a natural way. The best way to accomplish this task is through some form of funded proposal. A funded proposal is simply an offer of value that is given in exchange for the contact information of the prospect. The best funded proposals are those that address the felt needs of your target audience. For example if you represent a company that sells cleaning products, then offer a proposal that gives cleaning tips. If you represent a company that sells nutritional products, then offer a proposal that provides information on a specific health issues (e.g. lose weight).
By offering useful information in your funded proposal, you are positioning yourself as a leader in your industry. Since you are giving value to your prospect they are going to look to you for additional information. Since you have now become the expert, your recommendations will carry weight. Not only can you recommend your network marketing business, but you can even expand your business by recommending other related products and services. By MLM prospecting in this manner, you will become the “go-to” person in your niche.
If you are serious about building a network marketing business, then it is critical that you learn how to effectively master the art of MLM prospecting.
