When Things Don’t Go According To Plan In Your MLM Business
When Things Don’t Go According To Plan In Your MLM Business
In your MLM business you are likely to have a wide range of plans. Goals you would like to accomplish, achievement levels you would like to reach and new marketing strategies you would like to deploy. Unfortunately, things do not always work according to plan. This week my MLM business has been affected by this principle, so I would like to share some insights with you.
Your MLM Business Plans Need To Allow For Flexibility
When you understand that things don’t always go according to plan, you are much more likely to deal with setbacks in a positive manner. One of the key ingredients in your planning needs to be a measure of flexibility for the unexpected. Just this week I have seen my hosting provider crash, seen a new website rollout with my primary company that has taken 3 days longer than planned and watched another vendor roll out a new website that still had the prior website’s information in the meta description. Needless to say, none of these issues was in the plan, but they still were the reality of business this week. Having flexibility allowed these businesses to push on in spite of the challenges.
Setbacks are often a place to evaluate tweaks and modifications that need to be made to your plans. Once you have identified the primary problem that is creating the setback, you can look for adjustments that will either remove the obstacle or get you around it. These adjustments are often very minor, but they can have tremendous impact on the overall implementation of your plans.
Communication Is Key To Protecting Your MLM Business When Things Go Haywire
One of the keys to maintaining flexibility is open lines of communication. Communicating with those affected by these setbacks is critical to ensuring that your MLM business continues to move forward. These communications should include your prospects, team members and customers. When people are not receiving communication, they are left to let their imaginations run wild. This can lead to some very detrimental issues in your business, primarily the development of a “rumor mill.”
In the face of setback, it is also important to keep your cool. Frustration often leads to poor decisions that are based more on emotion than sound reasoning. If you find yourself getting frustrated, step back for a few minutes and take a walk. If you still find your perspective cloudy from frustration, call a trusted adviser or team member and ask them for advice in dealing with the setback. There is great wisdom in the saying that “two heads are better than one.” A network marketing business is a business of team work, so crisis should not be the place that you take on a Lone Ranger mentality.
A good MLM business plan always includes preparations for the unexpected. Make sure you remain flexible even with the greatest of plans.
