Internet lead generation is one of the most sought after topics when it comes to building a business.   Most business owners readily acknowledge the power of the internet for building a business; however, they simply are not up to speed with the methods necessary to effectively tap into this massive prospect pool.   Learning proven methods and strategies for internet lead generation is a non-negotiable item for anyone who is serious about using the internet to grow their business.

Having A Proper Foundation For Internet Lead Generation

Beyond gaining an understanding of the principles, it is important to have the right systems in place to help you automate the process of internet lead generation.  The most critical of these functions are the lead capture mechanism and a follow up system.   These two functions are best served through the use of an email autoresponder.   The two primary providers of this service are Aweber and Constant Contact.   I personally have chose to use Aweber, because of the high degree of flexibility and customization that comes with their service.

Developing A Comprehensive Internet Lead Generation Strategy

Once your system for lead capture and follow up are in place, it is time to to begin the real work of internet lead generation.   When it comes to online, there is one word that matters more than any other…traffic.   Without a steady flow of traffic coming to your website, you will generate few leads over the internet.   The most effective method of developing leads online is through the use of lead capture page, also known as a “squeeze page.”   This type of page has a brief message and an offer of value.  To participate in the offer (ebook, video, training, etc…) the viewer must provide their contact information.   Apart from squeeze pages, the use of opt-in forms at strategic places on a website can also be extremely effective.

Driving traffic to your lead capture site is typically accomplished through three basic forms.  These forms include content, social media and paid advertising.   Ideally, you will want to have a position in each of these forms of marketing to create a very comprehensive internet lead generation strategy.   In theory, you are working to create a spiderweb of marketing presence throughout these mediums.

To give you an example of how this works in reality, let me share with you my own internet lead generation .   The central nervous system of my online marketing is my network marketing blog.   Each blog post is keyword targeted for maximum effectiveness in obtaining high search engine rankings.   When an individual comes to the blog, they are given multiple opportunities to opt-in for training.   Each of these opt-ins becomes a lead.

The second component of my marketing strategy utilizes social media, specifically Facebook, Youtube and Twitter.   Visitors to my blog are encouraged to become a fan on my Facebook page, a follower on Twitter and a subscriber to my Youtube channel.   Every post on the blog is also broadcast to Twitter and Facebook.  Those broadcasts encourage others to visit the blog, where they are also given the opportunity to become leads.   Every video that I post on Youtube is directed back to the blog, once again giving the viewer the opportunity to opt-in and become a lead.

The final component of my internet lead generation strategy involves the use of PPC (pay-per-click) advertising.  In this form of internet lead generation, I use paid advertising that is targeted towards prospects through the use of highly focused keywords and phrases.   Those ads are then directed towards a squeeze page for the purpose of generating a lead, or in the case of Facebook ppc, they are directed towards my fan page for the purpose of relationship building.

When implemented correctly a sound internet lead generation strategy can produce significant lead flow day after day for years to come.
