Autopilot Income – Can You Really Produce Income On Autopilot?

Income – Can You Really Produce Income On ?

Autopilot income is for many that elusive life long quest, much like the search for the Ark Of The Covenant or The Holy Grail.   While there is great certainty that this of income exists, so few ever seem to really experience it.   In the end many end up throwing their hands into the air in disgust, declaring the whole notion of autopilot income to be nothing more than mere fable.   I hope as you read today’s blog post you will once again believe in the concept, but at the same time see the reality of the true picture of passive income.

What Does Autopilot Income Really Look Like

This is going to be one of those “well duh” moments.   If you are going to pursue a goal, dream or objective it is critical that you know what that end result looks like.   Undefined targets lead to poor marksmanship.   A working definition of autopilot income goes something like this:  “Income that is sustained and continues without direct intervention or action on the part of the business owner over an extended period of time.”  This means that when we are talking about putting your income on autopilot we are looking for ways to create a source of revenue that does not require a linear (time for money) transaction to create that financial outcome.   In the financial advisory world we referred to this of income as “trailers” and in the network marketing industry we refer to this as “residual” income.

The Reality of Autopilot Income

Let me first begin by addressing the myth of autopilot income.   In this myth there is a belief that a program exists that allows an individual to merely sign up and do nothing else, but sign the back of the checks that are arriving in the mailbox each and every week.   Sadly, thousands of people join thousands of programs each year, hoping to find this mythical outcome.   By the same token, thousands of people quit thousands of programs each and every year, because the fairy tale never manifests in their life.

To explain the reality of autopilot income, let me use an aviation analogy.   I have the privilege of traveling to India and Africa as a part of my ministry work on a regular basis.   When we take off and when we land, the pilot is in active control of the aircraft.   Once we are airborne, the computerized systems of the aircraft do the majority of the flying, with the flight crew merely keeping watch over those systems and other conditions that might adversely affect the flight.   I hope you noticed something about this analogy.   The pilot has to actively work at flying the aircraft, until the aircraft reaches a point where it is prudent to engage the automated systems.

Here is the reality of any passive income business.   You will have to work to get that business established, before you are able to take advantage of the autopilot income that it will produce.   For example, sales are made every day from this blog and other websites that I operate.  Even though those sales happen at all times of the day and night, whether I am working or not, there was a great deal of foundation work that had to be put in place before passive income could become a reality.   Just as it is with the aircraft, it is the systems that determine to what degree the business can be automated.   In my business, I use systems for marketing, lead generation, follow up, transactions, content, delivery and training.   These systems allow me to promote my business, make sales and recruit team members 24 hours a day (I’ve even received sales notifications as I’ve been writing this blog post).   That being said, there is still a point that I have to put my hands to the business.   This includes things like content creation (although outsourcing is always an option), personal contact (in person and via phone) and coaching that do require my active involvement.

If you are willing to put the proper foundation and systems in place, then you will be able to enjoy the autopilot income that comes from building taking the time to build your business correctly.
