Leading With Your MLM Biz Is A Bad Idea!
I can't tell you how many network marketers I see who lead into every relationship with their MLM biz opportunity. Now I am sure that if they talk to enough people at some point the law of averages will kick in and they will get a few sign ups. Unfortunately, they are not working very efficiently and it will take great quantities of prospects to make those averages profitable.
The real problem with presenting your MLM business on the front end is the lack of relationship. Perhaps this example will help. When a marketer takes this approach it is just like a man walking up to a woman he has never met before, dropping to his knee, pulling out a ring and asking for her hand in marriage. As dramatic and memorable as his overture may be, the answer is most likely going to be "no." Now to be truthful, there may be that one in a million interaction where the woman would actually say "yes." Needless to say, I think you can understand that there are some foundational pieces missing from this example.
The same is true in your business. Before you really have earned the right to present your mlm business opportunity, you need to lay some groundwork. There are questions that need to be answered. For starters, the prospect needs to know who you are. They need to be given a reason to listen to you in the first place. It is imperative that you provide some type of value in their lives, so that you earn the right to be heard. The more value you have brought into the relationship, the greater weight will be put on anything you present.
Secondarily, you need to build trust. Trust is built through ongoing interaction. The more you communicate, the more you are known. The more you are known, the more your character is revealed. As your prospects get to know you and your overall character, they will begin to develop a deeper level of trust in you and your motivations. When you do present your business opportunity, it will be evaluated at a much deeper level, because the recommendation is coming from you.
Finally, when relationships are established talk of your MLM business comes naturally. You are able to make reference to your own business as you interact with your prospects. This is a much more natural way of presenting the opportunity, and it creates within your prospect the desire to know more. If you have added tremendous value to their lives, it creates in them a desire to not only know more about the business itself, but how they can work directly with you.
If you want to successfully grow your MLM biz, avoid the temptation to lead with your opportunity and focus instead on building the relationship.
