Traffic exchange basics

Traffic exchanges are just what the name implies, a place where a person views someone else's webpage for the right to have their webpage viewed.   Generally, traffic exchanges have a surf ratio indicating the number of viewings a webpage will recieve in proportion to the number of webpages viewed.  A common ratio would be 2:1, meaning your site is viewed one time for every two sites that you view.

To entice more activity in the traffic exchange, exchange owners will offer promotion contests and incentives to encourage greater surfing.  Additionally, most surf exchanges offer both a free basic option and a premium paid option that offers better ratios and additional viewing credits.
